People started to figuring out how to get rank as higher as possible since the very beginning in search engine history.

 

The early day of SEO is just about the keyword stuffing in the title, description and in the content,  and you can't single out the bulk and spammy link building strategy as well.

 

Moving on, Google try to make sure the players play their game by focus more on relevant contents as well as user experiences.

 

Google roll out many big algorithm update along the years, Panda, Penguin, Humming bird, and today.. Google adopted machine learning to enhance it's SERP.

 

No doubts it is harder to rank in the 1st page of Google SERP nowaday, however it doesn't mean impossible.

 

 

What we learn over the years is .. you need to move along with Google, play by their rules.

 

 

 

Some people said.."The best way to optimize is not to optimize" and well,  i agree for some part of this statement.

 

It is true you must be very careful about what you do when you trying to rank your website because some might just over optimize their website.

 

So... what is the catches?

 

1) All the proper tags 

The title tag, description tag, alt tag is still part of the website and of course it is still part of the ranking factors. BUT, remember not to over optimize on all the tags. I will suggest you make those tags looks more natural and sensible.

 

2) Contents s still the KING

Contents is still piece of the information that shape your website, contents is still information the user looking for and therefor, contents is still a big part of how Google rank your website. After-all , Good content and relevant content is what all about.

 

3) Links

Links is something you must mention when you talk about SEO. Today, link building is still one of the hottest topic in search engine optimization. You must be ultra caution when come to link building, any thing that look unnatural might harm your website rather than help. And somehow what i'm currently doing here might be bit of playing in the "Grey" zone . Lol

 

4) User Experience 

The speed of your website, the user friendliness of your website. 

 

 

Of course, there is still many things to talk about in search engine optimization. However, like i said before "The best way to optimize is not to optimize" . Just do what you need to do, and with good intention, not overly optimize and you should see the improvement over the time for your website.
